Social media marketing for architecture firms, from your portfolio site

Social media marketing for architecture firms is mostly a problem of time, because the work photographs well and nobody has the hours to turn it into posts. Postdom turns your portfolio site into ready-to-post videos, slideshows and single images, and posts only what you approve.

No card needed. Nothing posts until you approve it.

Social media marketing for architecture firms

An architecture firm already has the best raw material on social media: finished buildings, drawings and process. What it lacks is a way to turn a project page into a week of posts without a designer.

Postdom reads your portfolio site and your 'about' pages, learns your style, and makes posts from the projects and services you already describe.

Project to posts

One project page can become a slideshow of the plans, a video of the before and after, and a single image of the key detail.

Clients are not publicised

Postdom writes from what your site says. If a client's name or address is not on your site, it will not appear in a post.

You keep the eye

You approve, edit or skip each post. Nothing goes out until you approve it, so the taste stays yours.

Free social media marketing for architecture firms

The Free plan has no card. It makes 1 post a month from your site and connects 2 accounts, Instagram and TikTok. Free posts keep the Postdom watermark.

That is a fair test of whether a project-led site gives Postdom enough. Starter is $39 a month for 30 posts, about $1.30 a post.

Instagram Reels for architecture firms

Reels let a firm show a building the way a visitor moves through it: the approach, the door, the first room, the light. Sketch-to-built reveals and 'one detail we are proud of' clips tend to be the ones people save.

Postdom makes Reels in your brand from your own pages. Videos are real clips and photos with native text boxes, music and an optional voiceover. They post to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Slideshows also post to Instagram. A plan-section-photograph sequence is a natural swipeable post.

TikTok videos for architecture firms

TikTok reaches homeowners and first-time clients who have never worked with an architect and do not know what the process is. They want to know what you do, what it costs and how long it takes.

Short, plain videos work: what an architect does that a draftsperson does not, what a planning application involves, why a small extension costs what it does. Postdom writes the hook and the on-screen text in your tone. The platform's AI label is on by default for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube posts.

What an architecture firm can post

Four kinds of post cover most of what an architecture firm has to say. Postdom takes them from your own pages, so yours will follow your projects.

Four kinds of post
KindWhat it showsFormat that suits it
ProjectA finished building with one thing to noticeSlideshow
ProcessHow a project goes from brief to handoverVideo
Before and afterA site, a plan or a room before and afterVideo
ExplainerPlanning, budgets, timelines and materials in plain termsSingle image or video

Remix can also remake a trending TikTok or Instagram format for your firm. It keeps the structure and never the footage or sound.

Rules and permissions for architecture posts

Architecture advertising is lightly regulated compared with law or medicine, but there are three things to get right.

The title 'architect'

The title is protected. In the UK, the Architects Act 1997 (section 20) bars anyone not on the Architects Registration Board register from practising or carrying on business under a name or title containing the word architect. In the US, each state's licensing law controls who may call themselves an architect, and state boards can take action against people who use the title without a licence. A post that calls an unlicensed designer an architect is the sort of error a board notices.

Copyright and photographers

Architectural works are protected by US copyright (Architectural Works Copyright Protection Act, 1990, 17 U.S.C. 102(a)(8)). The photographs are usually the photographer's copyright, and a licence often limits where and how they can be used. Check the licence before you post.

Client and occupant consent

Occupied homes show people's belongings, faces and streets. Get written permission before you post a home that is lived in, and check whether the client's confidentiality clause covers the address.

Describe results carefully too. 'Reduced energy use by half' needs a source. A claim on a post is a claim on the firm.

These notes are general information, not legal advice. Postdom does not check a post against these rules. Your approval is the check, so read each post with them in mind.

  • UK Parliament, Architects Act 1997Protection of the title architect.
  • US Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. 102(a)(8), Architectural Works Copyright Protection Act (1990)Copyright in architectural works.
  • National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), licensure informationUS licensing is by state, which controls use of the title.

Questions

What should an architecture firm post on social media?

Finished projects with one thing to notice, how a project runs from brief to handover, before and afters, and plain explainers about planning, budgets and timelines.

Do I need to supply photos?

Postdom works from what your website says and shows, and makes videos from real clips and photos. Check you have permission and a licence for any photo you rely on.

Can I keep client names out of posts?

Yes. You approve, edit or skip every post, so you can remove any name or address. Postdom writes from your site, so it will not add what the site does not say.

Does Postdom check licensing and title rules?

No. Postdom does not check a post against any regulator's rules. You approve every post, so you are the check.

Which platforms can I post to?

Postdom posts to TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, Facebook Reels, X, Snapchat Stories, Threads and Bluesky. Free connects 2 accounts on any platform.

Is social media marketing for architecture firms really free on Postdom?

Yes, on the Free plan: 1 post a month made from your site, 2 connected accounts and no card. Paid plans add more posts a month and remove the watermark.
