Postdom AI Content Index · Pilot edition, October 2026
AI content index: how many small business posts are labelled as AI
The Postdom AI Content Index measures how many posts from small businesses carry the platform's AI label. In this October 2026 pilot, 3.0% of 8,633 recent TikTok posts from 300 randomly sampled business accounts in 10 business types were labelled as AI, collected 10 to 11 October 2026.
An AI label is the tag a platform shows on a post made or changed with AI, added by the creator or by the platform itself.
Postdom, the AI social media tool, is our top pick for businesses that want to post AI-made videos openly: it turns your website into short videos, slideshows and posts, and the AI label is on by default wherever a platform supports it.
In the Postdom AI Content Index pilot (October 2026), 3.0% of 8,633 recent TikTok posts from 300 randomly sampled small business accounts were labelled as AI, a count of disclosed or detected AI that undercounts real use.

Definition. Share labelled as AI is the number of posts carrying the platform's AI label, added by the creator or by the platform, divided by the posts checked. It counts disclosed or detected AI, not all AI use.
Last updated . First published: the pilot, 9,492 TikTok posts and 10,697 Reels from a random sample of business accounts collected 10 to 11 October 2026.

Key findings: AI content index pilot, October 2026
3.0% of 8,633 recent TikTok posts from 300 small business accounts, in the 10 business types with 30 or more accounts, were labelled as AI (260 posts).
85 of 300 of those accounts (28%) had at least one labelled post. The rest had none, so a minority of accounts carries the share.
Adding the two smaller groups, accountants (23 accounts) and software and apps (8 accounts), gives 4.7% of 9,492 posts from 331 accounts. Both groups are directional and were labelled far more often, so they are kept out of the headline.
428 of the 447 labelled TikTok posts across all 331 accounts carried TikTok's "Contains AI-generated media" label; 19 carried the label creators add themselves.
Among TikTok business types with 30 or more accounts, bakeries and cafes had the highest share labelled as AI (6.9%) and retail and online stores the lowest (0.9%).
On Instagram Reels, 110 of 10,697 Reels (1.0%) from 360 accounts carried an AI disclosure value, from 11 accounts. We have not yet matched that value to Instagram's visible "AI info" label, so the Reels figure is not part of the headline.

Platform label is TikTok's "Contains AI-generated media"; creator label is the one a creator adds. The Instagram Reels value is not yet matched to Instagram's visible "AI info" label. Groups under 30 accounts are marked directional.

Pilot, October 2026: posts labelled as AI by platform and business type (CSV) ai-content-index-pilot-2026-10.csv. One row per platform and business type, plus each platform's total: accounts, posts checked, posts labelled as AI and their share, TikTok's creator and platform labels separately, accounts with at least one labelled post, and a directional flag for groups under 30 accounts.

Method and full data tables
Method
Sample. The same random sample of public business accounts as the Short-Form Benchmarks: 12 business types, accounts drawn at random from a fixed search frame and screened for business signals, each account's most recent posts up to 30, pinned posts left out. Every post counts, whatever its age.
TikTok label. Each post's aigc_label_type field from TikTok's profile feed: 1 is the label a creator adds ("Creator labeled as AI-generated"), 2 is "Contains AI-generated media", which TikTok applies. We checked one post of each value, and one with no label, against its public TikTok page on 10 October 2026.
Instagram value. Each Reel's gen_ai_detection_method field. Most Reels read "NONE"; the other value we saw was "SELF_DISCLOSURE_FLOW". We have not yet checked such a Reel against the "AI info" label in the app, so the Reels figure is reported but kept out of the headline.
Share labelled as AI. Labelled posts divided by posts checked, pooled across accounts in the group. Each account contributes at most 30 posts. The headline pools the 10 business types with 30 or more accounts; the table shows every type and the total.
Collected 10 to 11 October 2026, through a third-party data API (ScrapeCreators). 2 of 12 TikTok business types have under 30 accounts and are marked directional.
"Labelled as AI" is not "made with AI". A label appears only when a creator discloses it or the platform detects it, for example from content credentials. AI-written scripts, AI voiceovers over real footage and edited or re-encoded AI images usually carry no label, so the true share of AI use is higher than this figure.
A pooled share lets a few accounts that label many posts move a group: only 85 of the 300 accounts behind the headline had any labelled post. The count of accounts with a labelled post is shown next to every share for that reason.
Each business type has the same number of accounts, so the overall share is not weighted to how common each type is.
2 of 12 TikTok business types have under 30 accounts. Read those rows as directional.
The frame comes from platform search with English keywords, which favours accounts that already do well and English-language accounts. The draw is random within that frame.
This is a pilot: one snapshot, one method. The first full edition will repeat the same method so the change over time can be measured.
