TikTok safe zone checker
The TikTok safe zone is the part of a 1080 × 1920 video that TikTok's buttons and caption leave clear. TikTok's own template for in-feed ads keeps text and faces 240 px from the top, 660 px from the bottom and 120 px from each side, and 300 px from the right beside the buttons. This TikTok safe zone checker draws it over your frame.
Check your frame
Choose a picture or a video, then switch between apps. Your file stays in this browser tab: nothing is uploaded.
Or drop a file here. PNG, JPG, WebP, MP4 or MOV, ideally 1080 by 1920.
The green dashed line is the safe zone the app publishes. Choose a file to see your own frame under it.

How the TikTok safe zone checker works
It draws the safe zone TikTok publishes over your own frame, so you see what the interface would cover before you post.
- 1
Choose a frame
A screenshot, a cover, a slideshow image or the video itself. For a video, drag the slider to the moment with the most text on screen.
- 2
See what TikTok covers
The top 240 px and the bottom 660 px are shaded, and from 840 px down the button column takes 300 px of the right side.
- 3
Move anything outside the line
If a word, a face or a price sits outside the green dashed line, move it inward in your editor and check the frame again.
TikTok safe zone sizes
The margins TikTok publishes, next to Instagram's and YouTube's, so you can see which app is tightest on each side.
| App | Top | Bottom | Left | Right | Safe area |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TikTok | 240 px 12.5% | 660 px 34.4% | 120 px | 120 px 300 px below 840 px down (the button column) | 840 × 1020 px |
| Instagram Reels and Stories | 269 px 14% | 672 px 35% | 65 px | 65 px | 950 × 979 px |
| YouTube Shorts | 288 px 15% | 672 px 35% | 48 px | 192 px | 840 × 960 px |
| All three | 288 px 15% | 672 px 35% | 120 px | 192 px 300 px below 840 px down (the button column) | 768 × 960 px |
TikTok safe zone template
The template is a transparent 1080 × 1920 PNG with TikTok's covered areas shaded and the safe zone outlined. Put it on the top layer of your edit, line your text up inside the green line, and hide the layer before you export.
It works in any editor that takes a PNG layer, on a phone or a computer, and it is the same drawing this checker shows, so what you line up in the edit matches what you checked here.
TikTok safe zone overlay
Turn the app interface on to see plain stand-ins for the button column and the caption rows, or turn it off to see only the safe zone line over a clean frame.
The overlay uses simple shapes rather than TikTok's own artwork. What matters is where the covered areas sit, and those come from TikTok's published template.
- Top 240 px: the top of the For You screen.
- Right 300 px, from 840 px down: like, comment and share.
- Bottom 660 px: username, caption and sound.
- Each side 120 px: the screen edge.
Free TikTok safe zone
Checking frames is free with no account and no limit: the image never leaves your browser, so there is nothing for us to meter. A free Postdom account downloads the preview and the overlay templates for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts.

Questions about the TikTok safe zone
What is the TikTok safe zone in pixels?
On a 1080 × 1920 video, TikTok's template keeps important text and faces 240 px from the top, 660 px from the bottom and 120 px from the left and right. From 840 px down, keep 300 px from the right as well, where the like, comment and share buttons sit.
Where do these numbers come from?
From the in-feed safe zone file TikTok publishes in its Ads Manager help. TikTok draws it for a 720 × 1280 frame; the checker scales it to 1080 × 1920. The source is linked under the table above.
Is the safe zone different for regular TikTok posts?
TikTok publishes its safe zone for in-feed ads only. A regular post sits on the same For You screen without the ad's button, so the ad's margins are a cautious guide for any post.
Why does TikTok cover the bottom of my video so much?
The username, the caption and the sound name stack up at the bottom, and a long caption grows upward. TikTok also notes that the longer the caption, the smaller the safe zone.
Is my video uploaded when I use the checker?
No. The file is opened by your browser and drawn on a canvas in the page. It is never sent to Postdom or anyone else.
Can I check the same frame for Instagram and YouTube?
Yes. Switch between TikTok, Instagram Reels and Stories, and YouTube Shorts above the preview, or pick All three to see the margins that keep one export clear on every app.
