# How to make money on Facebook in 2026: every Meta program, rule and payout

Ana Ibáñez Lario · Published 5 Oct 2026 · Research

_Every way Facebook pays creators in 2026, checked on Meta's own pages on 5 October 2026: Content Monetization, Creator Fast Track, the Breakthrough bonus, Stars, subscriptions, brand deals and affiliates._

## The short answer

- In-stream ads, Ads on Reels and the Performance bonus ended on 31 August 2025. Facebook Content Monetization replaced them, and it is invite-only.
- Content Monetization pays for the performance of public reels, photos, stories and text posts. Reels must run at least 10 seconds.
- Stars open at 500 followers held for 30 days, and you earn 1 cent per Star.
- If you're new to Facebook with 20,000 or more followers on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, you can apply to Creator Fast Track. Accepted creators get $100 to $3,000 a month for 3 months for posting 15 original reels a month.
- Meta doesn't publish a rate per view. It says Facebook paid creators $2 billion in 2024.

If you learned how to make money on Facebook before September 2025, start again: in-stream ads, Ads on Reels and the Performance bonus [ended on 31 August 2025](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1049081556813520), and in 2026 Facebook pays through an invite-only program, Stars, subscriptions and bonuses for creators who bring an audience.

Start with a Facebook Page or a profile in professional mode, post original reels, photos, stories and text posts, and ask for an invite to Facebook Content Monetization, which pays for how that content performs. Add Stars, subscriptions, brand deals and affiliate links as you qualify, and sell through Marketplace or a Shop if you have products. Several top search results still describe in-stream ads, including one of Meta's own lessons, and some still quote a 10,000-follower rule. We checked each program below on Meta's own pages on 5 October 2026.

_Every Facebook program that pays creators, and who can join (Meta's pages, checked 5 Oct 2026)_

| Program | Who can join | How it pays |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Facebook Content Monetization | Invite only. A Page or professional-mode profile that follows Meta's Partner and Content Monetization Policies | By the performance of public reels, photos, stories and text posts: qualified views and watch time |
| Creator Fast Track | Apply. For creators new to or returning to Facebook, with 20,000+ followers on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube | If accepted: $100 to $450, $1,000 or $3,000 a month for 3 months, by follower tier, for 15 eligible reels a month on 10 different days |
| Breakthrough bonus | U.S. creators aged 18+ with a presence on another social app. 20,000+ followers there are reviewed first | Up to $5,000 in bonuses in the first 90 days, plus Content Monetization |
| Stars | 500 followers for 30 consecutive days, aged 18+, in a Stars country | 1 cent for every Star a fan sends |
| Subscriptions | Pages in 37 listed countries including the U.S., with 10,000 followers or 250+ return viewers, plus 50,000 post engagements or 180,000 watch minutes in 60 days | A monthly fee from each subscriber |
| Branded content and partnership ads | A Page or professional-mode profile that meets branded content rules | Whatever you agree with the brand, more if they run your post as an ad |
| Affiliates | A Page or professional-mode profile, aged 18+, registered with a participating affiliate partner | Commission on sales from your links |

## How to make money on Facebook in 8 steps

1. Pick your home: a Facebook Page, or your personal profile with professional mode turned on. Every Meta monetization tool runs on one or the other.
2. Check what you qualify for. On a computer, open Meta Business Suite, select Monetization, then View Page eligibility. On a phone, open the Professional dashboard and tap Monetization. Meta [lists](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/321041698514182) the programs you can set up and the ones you can't yet.
3. Post original content in every format. Meta [says](https://creators.facebook.com/how-make-money-facebook) creators get the most distribution when they mostly post content they filmed or made themselves, and that vertical reels are one of the fastest ways to grow.
4. Ask for Content Monetization. In the Professional dashboard, open the Monetization tab and select Content monetization to find the [interest form](https://creators.facebook.com/tools/facebook-content-monetization/). Meta says it is not an application and doesn't promise an invite. Invites arrive in the Facebook app, by email, in Meta Business Suite or in the Professional dashboard.
5. Apply for a bonus if you have an audience elsewhere. [Creator Fast Track](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/786757217805588) is for creators with 20,000 or more followers on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube. The [Breakthrough bonus](https://creators.facebook.com/breakthrough-bonus) is for U.S. creators, and applying is mobile-only.
6. Turn on Stars once you've had 500 followers for 30 days in a row, and [subscriptions](https://creators.facebook.com/tools/subscriptions) when your Page qualifies.
7. Set up a payout account. Add your legal name, a bank account, PayPal or debit card, and your tax information. If you add a tool on your phone without a payout account, Meta [lets you earn](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/487364569891814) up to $500 per tool, or $1,500 across three. Earning stops after 5 months, and you lose the money if you haven't finished setup within 6 months.
8. Track what earns. In Meta Business Suite, go to Insights, then Earnings, to see your approximate earnings, qualified views and earnings rate. Meta's [earnings page](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/494798721086355) explains what each metric means.

## How to monetize a Facebook page

If you run a Page, invitations and setup come through Meta Business Suite. Once you're invited to Content Monetization:

1. On a computer, go to Meta Business Suite, then Monetization, then Content monetization.
2. Click Sign up.
3. Review and accept the terms and conditions.
4. Fill in your payout details and click Complete setup.

On a phone, tap the invite notification, or go to Professional dashboard, then Monetize, then Content monetization, and tap Get Started. On a professional-mode profile the steps are the same, but you turn on professional mode first.

Then add the tools that don't need an invite. Subscriptions are a Page feature in the 37 countries Meta lists, and the bar is 10,000 followers or 250 return viewers, plus 50,000 post engagements or 180,000 watch minutes in the last 60 days. Stars, branded content and affiliate links work on Pages and professional-mode profiles alike. If your Page isn't using any monetization product yet, Meta reviews the Page against its Partner Monetization Policies before you can use any of them.

## Facebook monetization requirements

Meta checks rules at [two levels](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/185404538833362). Partner Monetization Policies cover your account as a whole, including how you share content and handle payments. Content Monetization Policies cover each post, with rules against violent, sexual, criminal, graphic or profane content. On top of those:

- **Content Monetization:** invite only. Reels must be at least 10 seconds and stories at least 5 seconds, and anything watched for under 5 seconds doesn't qualify.
- **Stars:** 500 followers for at least 30 consecutive days, aged 18 or older, in a country where Stars is available, and agreement to the Stars terms. Accounts that mainly post content focused on children [can't earn](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/300444652164185) from Stars.
- **Subscriptions:** a Page in an eligible country with 10,000 followers or 250+ return viewers, and 50,000 post engagements or 180,000 watch minutes in the last 60 days.
- **Creator Fast Track:** you apply, and Meta decides. Accepted creators post 15 eligible, original, public reels a month on at least 10 different days, with content not previously posted on Facebook, and Meta sets no minimum views.
- **Breakthrough bonus:** based in the U.S., 18 or older, with a presence on another social app and an Instagram professional account and Facebook Page.
- **Affiliates:** 18 or older and [registered](https://creators.facebook.com/earn-money/earn-from-affiliates) with a participating affiliate partner.

People in the EU, the EEA and Switzerland face one more limit: Meta says your ability to monetize with ads is limited if your account is on a subscription to use Meta products without ads, or on less-personalized ads.

## How much does Facebook pay for views

Meta doesn't publish a rate per view or per 1,000 views. It says Content Monetization pays on [several factors](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1049081556813520), including qualified views and watch time of your eligible public content, as Meta alone decides, and that payouts change with who is watching, where they are, the time of year, and likes, comments and shares. Meta does give you your own number. In Meta Business Suite, go to Insights, then Earnings, and you'll see your approximate earnings, qualified views and earnings rate. Divide your approximate earnings by your qualified views and multiply by 1,000 to get your own rate per 1,000 qualified views. Then multiply it out: 100,000 qualified views pays 100 times that rate, and 10 million pays 10,000 times it. Only qualified views count, so use that number, not total views.

Creators' own reports show how wide the range is. In a [r/facebook thread posted on 1 March 2026](https://www.reddit.com/r/facebook/comments/1riat9k/for_those_wondering_how_much_1m_views_pays_out_on/), which we read on 5 October 2026, one creator said 1 million views earns them around $15, and another said a reel with just over a million views made about $300. Both figures are self-reported and unverified, and Meta's own page says pay depends on where viewers are and how they engage.

What Meta has published: Facebook [paid creators $2 billion in 2024](https://creators.facebook.com/how-make-money-facebook), and some programs have fixed amounts.

- **Creator Fast Track, if you apply and are accepted:** $100 to $450 a month at 20,000 to 99,999 followers, $1,000 at 100,000 to 999,999, and $3,000 above 1 million, for 3 months, on top of any Content Monetization earnings.
- **Breakthrough bonus:** up to $5,000 during your first 90 days.
- **Stars:** 1 cent per Star, so 1,000 Stars is $10.

Some views never pay. Meta excludes views on content where an ownership claim was settled for someone else, content in an unsupported language, posts crossposted from a Page you don't manage, boosted posts, deleted posts, posts where you turned ads off, and anything driven by fake engagement. Reels crossposted from your own Instagram still count.

## Other ways to make money on Facebook

### Brand deals and partnership ads

Tag the brand with the Paid partnership label when you post sponsored content. If the brand then runs that post as a partnership ad, [Meta suggests](https://creators.facebook.com/earn-money/earn-from-brands/) you negotiate for more, because they get extra usage rights and reach beyond your followers.

### Affiliate links

Connect an affiliate account in the Professional dashboard's Monetization tab, and tagged products show as an affiliate banner on your posts. You earn the partner's commission on sales.

### Marketplace, Shops and groups

If you sell physical things, [Facebook Marketplace](https://www.facebook.com/help/153832041692242) and local buy-and-sell groups reach buyers near you. A Facebook Shop lets people browse your catalog on Facebook and Instagram, but since September 2025 [Meta sends buyers to your own website](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1314349509894768) to pay, so you handle orders, payments, shipping and returns there. Some creators also run a subscriber-only group as one of their Facebook subscription perks.

### Selling your own products

For many small businesses, the best money on Facebook is still selling what they already sell, with reels and posts that send people to it. Our guides on [making money on Instagram](/blog/how-to-make-money-on-instagram) and [making money with AI](/blog/how-to-make-money-with-ai) cover more ways to turn posts into sales. If you post the same videos elsewhere, see [how to make money on YouTube Shorts](/blog/how-to-make-money-on-youtube-shorts) and [on Snapchat](/blog/how-to-make-money-on-snapchat).

## How Facebook pay compares with YouTube Shorts and Snapchat

_How three short-video platforms pay creators (official pages, checked 5 Oct 2026)_

| Platform | How it pays | What it takes | Published rate |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Facebook | Content Monetization pays on the performance of reels, photos, stories and text posts | Invite only | None |
| YouTube Shorts | 45% of your share of a pooled Shorts ad pot | 1,000 subscribers and 10M Shorts views in 90 days (20M for new channels from Feb 2027) | None. Creators report 3 to 7 cents per 1,000 views |
| Snapchat | A share of ad revenue from ads in Public Stories and Spotlight | Invite only: 50,000 followers and 15,000 hours of view time in 28 days | None |

## What gets views on Facebook Reels, from our data

Content Monetization pays on views and watch time, so the same habits that win on other short-video feeds should help. We haven't studied Facebook directly. Our [study of 1,272 TikToks and Instagram Reels](/blog/what-makes-a-short-video-go-viral) found:

- On-screen hook text: 1.79 times the account's usual views.
- List-style videos: 2.12 times.
- Ending on a quick recap: 1.52 times. Ending with "let me know below": 0.61 times.
- Product brands' videos with nobody on screen: 0.42 times the same brands' other videos, from our [industry study](/blog/tiktok-by-industry-faceless-videos).

## Post to Facebook every week with Postdom

Content Monetization rewards steady posting across formats, and Fast Track asks for 15 reels a month on 10 different days. [Postdom](/) reads your website and makes short-form videos and slideshows in your brand. The videos it makes can be scheduled to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn, and videos you upload yourself can go to all nine destinations Postdom supports. Every post waits for your approval by default. The [Free plan](/pricing) covers 5 posts a month on 1 connected account. Meta's originality rules still apply, so approve only posts that are clearly yours.

## What to avoid

- **Fake invites.** Meta says invites come only through the Facebook app, email, Meta Business Suite or the Professional dashboard. Don't click invite links sent in Messenger.
- **Boosting the posts you want paid for.** Boosted content isn't eligible for Content Monetization payouts.
- **Reposting other people's work.** Ownership claims can send your earnings to the rights holder, and Meta can hold payouts for weeks or months while it reviews them.
- **Deleting posts that earned.** You may lose credit for views a post got before you deleted it.
- **Turning ads off on a post.** Content where you disabled ads doesn't earn.
- **Engagement bait.** Content that collects or rewards fake engagement is excluded.
- **Leaving payout setup unfinished.** After 6 months you forfeit earnings that were waiting for a payout account.
- **Planning around in-stream ads.** They ended on 31 August 2025.

## FAQ

**How much does Facebook pay for 1,000 views?**

Meta doesn't publish a rate. Work out your own: in Meta Business Suite, go to Insights, then Earnings, divide your approximate earnings by your qualified views and multiply by 1,000. Payouts vary with your audience, where they are and the time of year.

**How to make $500 a day on Facebook?**

There's no program that pays a set daily amount. The largest fixed payment we found is Creator Fast Track's $3,000 a month for 3 months, for accepted creators with over 1 million followers elsewhere. Reaching $500 a day usually means combining Content Monetization with brand deals or your own sales.

**How do I set my Facebook account to get paid?**

After you accept a monetization tool's terms, select Get Started to create a payout account: your legal name, date of birth, country, business type and address, then a bank account, PayPal or debit card, then your tax information. You can also manage payouts later in Settings, then Payouts.

**How many views do you need to get paid by Facebook?**

Meta publishes no view minimum for Content Monetization, and Creator Fast Track says it has none. A view only counts if it is qualified, and content watched for less than 5 seconds doesn't qualify.

**How many followers do you need to make money on Facebook?**

It depends on the tool: 500 for 30 days for Stars, 10,000 (or 250 return viewers plus engagement) for subscriptions, and 20,000 on another app for Creator Fast Track. Content Monetization is invite-only with no published follower number.

**Does Facebook still pay for in-stream ads?**

No. In-stream ads, Ads on Reels and the Performance bonus ended on 31 August 2025. Eligible creators are invited to Facebook Content Monetization instead.

**Can I make money on Facebook with a personal profile?**

Yes, if you turn on professional mode. Content Monetization, Stars, branded content and affiliates all work on professional-mode profiles. Subscriptions are listed for Pages.

**How much does Facebook pay for 1 million views?**

Meta doesn't publish a figure. Your own rate per 1,000 qualified views, times 1,000, is the answer for your page. In a March 2026 Reddit thread, creators self-reported anything from about $15 to about $300 for a million views, which shows how much it varies.

**How much does Facebook pay for 100k views on reels?**

Meta doesn't publish a rate, so work it out from your own: take your rate per 1,000 qualified views from Meta Business Suite (approximate earnings divided by qualified views, times 1,000) and multiply it by 100. Only qualified views count.

**How much money is 10 million views on Facebook?**

Multiply your own rate per 1,000 qualified views by 10,000. Creators' self-reported rates vary a lot, so a figure from someone else's page won't tell you much about yours.

**Do reels I crosspost from Instagram earn on Facebook?**

Yes. Meta excludes content crossposted by another Page you don't own or manage, but says that rule doesn't apply to content you crosspost from Instagram.

**Is it free to start making money on Facebook?**

Yes. Posting is free, and the Content Monetization interest form costs nothing. Meta's monetization pages we checked list no fee to join any of its programs.
