# Best time to post on Twitter (X) in 2026, by day

Ana Ibáñez Lario · Published 7 Oct 2026

_What Sprout Social's and Buffer's published studies say about the best time to post on Twitter (X), day by day, and why they disagree._

## The short answer

- Sprout Social's best windows are weekday afternoons; Buffer's top slots are mornings.
- The two studies share no hour on any day, so test one window from each.
- Both give times in your audience's local time.

The best time to post on Twitter depends on your audience, and the two big published studies point at different parts of the day. Below is what each one says, day by day, in your audience's local time. If you'd rather not plan timing at all, Postdom makes your posts from your website and schedules the ones you approve to X in your time zone.

Where the data comes from: Sprout Social's and Buffer's own published studies, read on 7 October 2026 and cited at the bottom of this page. It is not Postdom's own data. Hootsuite's page couldn't be read, so it is left out.

## It depends on your audience

- These are patterns across other accounts' posts. Your followers' habits can be different, and your own results are the better guide once you have a few weeks of them.
- The times are in your audience's local time. If most of your followers are in another country, convert them to your own clock.
- With two studies this far apart, test one window from each for a few weeks and keep the one your own numbers favour.

## Best time to post on Twitter: questions

**What is the best time to post on X (Twitter)?**

The two big studies split: Sprout Social puts the best window at 12 to 6pm on Tuesday to Thursday, and Buffer puts its top slot at 9am, with Tuesday 9am first. Both are in your audience's local time, and they share no hour on any day.

**What is the best day to post on X (Twitter)?**

Sprout Social: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Buffer: Wednesday, Tuesday and Thursday. Sprout Social: Saturday is the worst day. Buffer: Saturday and Friday see the lowest engagement.

**What timezone are these times in?**

Your audience's local time: the studies adjusted their times to the local time of the people seeing the posts. If your audience is where you are, use them as they are; if it's somewhere else, convert them to your own clock.

**Why do the studies disagree?**

They measure different accounts, over different months, with different definitions of engagement. Sprout Social's best windows are afternoons; Buffer's top three slots every day are mornings, 8 to 11am.

**Is this Postdom's own data?**

No. It's compiled from Sprout Social and Buffer. Postdom will publish its own numbers once at least 10,000 posts published through Postdom have a week of results.
